Alfred Prospere, more commonly and affectionately known as ‘Starbatch ’ or ‘Pros’, is a native born of the Dennery Community. He is, on all accounts, a dedicated, dependable, husband and father who exemplifies the true meaning of family life. He is the husband of Joyce Prospere, one who epitomizes the attributes of a devoted wife. He has one daughter.

Biography

Alfred Prospere, more commonly and affectionately known as ‘Starbatch ’ or ‘Pros’, is a native born of the Dennery Community. He is the husband of Joyce Prospere, one who epitomizes the attributes of a devoted wife. He has one daughter.

As a well-known resident of Dennery, Alfred Prospere has acquired extensive experience and expertise in building good community spirit, making fundamental contributions to the following organisations. President​​-​All Blacks Veterans Club​

His career path as a conservationist was developed upon graduation from the Dennery Secondary School in 1980 when he went on to gain the following academic qualifications in Forestry and Agriculture. Diploma in Agriculture (1984-1986) -St. Lucia College of Agriculture; Certificate in Forest Ranger Training Programme (1990-1991)-  Eastern

Caribbean Institute of Agriculture and Forestry in Trinidad and Tobago; Diploma in General Forestry (1993-1995) – Eastern Caribbean Institute of Agriculture and Forestry; Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry (2003-2005) – University of Guyana.

Prospere’s career in Forestry has been with the Ministry of Agriculture which he joined in 1986,  where he rose to the positions of Assistant Chief Forestry Officer, Deputy Chief  Forestry Officer ( 2015) and Chief Forestry Officer (2019). He also served as the Focal point for St. Lucia, for the United Nations Conventions to Combat Desertification (2015 -2020).  He is also skilled in the Identification and Scientific Validation of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants and Leadership Training.

Alfred Prospere’s involvement in politics began in 1997 as the Treasurer of the Dennery South Labour Party Constituency Group (from 1997 – 2006). From that time, he has been an active member supporting previous SLP candidates. The experiences in his personal, professional and political life have helped to shape him into the nurturing and supportive role model that he is within the community. He believes that if given an opportunity to serve as the Parliamentary Representative for Dennery South, he will be better able, in this capacity, to further assist his constituents.
