From an early age, my mother, a devoted and loving school teacher, and father, a hardworking and astute policeman, taught me the importance of giving my best while serving others with humility and honesty. These values impressed upon me later became the foundation of my professional and political career.

During my formative years, I attended the St. Mary’s College, a school I am very proud of, and later enrolled into the University of the West Indies were with honors I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Economics and a Masters in Business Administration. However, when many of my friends traveled to the USA and the UK after completing their studies, I felt an innate passion to return to Saint Lucia to give back to my community and country.

After many successful years as a professional accountant, in 1992, I answered the call to serve and improve the lives of my fellow constituents in Waterworks, Castries East where I was born, raised, and where I continue to live until this very day.

Although I was unsuccessful initially, my resolve to serve the people of Castries East was not abated. I wanted to help people and make a difference in their lives, and in the memorable 1997 General Election, I was convincingly elected to represent my constituency. For over two decades my primary mission has been to enhance the standard of living for all my constituency.

As the Parliamentarian for Castries East, I have strengthened the socio-economical values of the area by investing in a mutual partnership with all segments of the population. This enduring relationship with the community has been strengthened by being there, showing up, and answering whenever my constituents call.

Throughout my political career, I have been given the opportunity to serve as a Cabinet Minister with responsibility for Tourism, Civil Aviation, International Financial Services, Commerce, Consumer Affairs, Infrastructure, Port Services, and Transport. Each tenure was characterized by a diligent work ethic and the objective to improve the industries that drive our local economy. To this end, I continue to draw from such experiences in developing my vision for this great country.

Four years ago, I was elected with an overwhelming vote of confidence as the Political Leader of the Saint Lucia Labour Party and Leader of the Opposition. Since then, I have led the largest protest action held in Saint Lucia against the current failing administration. This was filled by the first Vote of No Confidence against a Saint Lucian Prime Minister after numerous shortcomings.

It is the belief of the masses that we, as people deserve better representation within the highest office of the land, and today, Saint Lucians are asking for a new leader. As your fellow countryman, I am humbled to present myself as the best choice to restore this country to its former glory, to captain our ship out of these turbulent waters, and give hope to the people of Saint Lucia.

I stand ready to serve.
